ENGLISH LANG. CENTER

OUR DIRECTION

student support

Student organizations play a strategic role in molding the intellectual and civic consciousness of students.

They serve as fertile grounds that build and nurture the character and dynamisms of young people to search for the truth and contribute to the betterment of society.

In effect, student organizations are the bridges that link the intellectual discourse in the classroom to the social realities and the demand of a human community for equity and justice.

DR. JAMIL MANASRAH
Head of English Language Center

The English Language Center aims to develop students' linguistic proficiency by promoting active learning and use of English through extensive practice in all the language skills needed in various academic situations and the labor market. It also aims to enable students to attain an advanced level competency in critical thinking skills, communication skills, and study skills.

The English Language Center is the most diverse and largest department at Ibri CT. Our teachers come from all over the world, bringing with them a range of backgrounds, cultures and education. Currently, we have teachers from Canada, Egypt, France, Ghana, India, Jordan, Oman, the Philipines, South Africa, Tunisia, the UK, Ukraine, and the USA. This multi-cultural staff is highly educated with 82% having obtained at least a masters degree. In addition, a significant majority has at least 10 years of teaching experience.

The English Language Program at ICT is divided into two parts; Foundation and Post-Foundation. The Foundation Program consists of four levels; Pre-Elementary, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Students in each level study the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and projects. Upon successful completion of the Foundation Program, students continue on into their specializations in the Post-Foundation Program.

Once in the specialization or the Post-Foundation Level, students continue to take courses from the English Language Center; Technical Writing I, Technical Writing II, Technical Communication and Public Speaking which are all required as part of their degrees.
