Mr. Guruprasath V.A, Lecturer of the IT Department, presented the strategy. He also talked about the role of a lecturer in strategy planning, SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis, and how to derive a strategy from SWOT analysis.

 Some important points from the presentation are given below;

  • Strategy is the direction and scope of an organization over the long term, which achieves advantage in a changing environment through its configuration of resources and competences’   -Johnson et al. (2009)
  • As a lecturer, we are not required to make decisions at the strategic level, but we may be asked to contribute our expertise
  • The SWOT analysis is a business analysis technique that your organization can perform for each of its products, services and markets, when deciding on the best way to achieve future growth

 Mr. Guruprasath also discussed the features & limitations of SWOT analysis briefly.

Some of the staff members clarified their queries. Some staff members suggested to the speaker to organize practical workshops on SWOT analysis. The program was highly beneficial to the staff members.
