Recently, CISCO California-USA announced the CISCO NetRiders 2016 competition through the Higher college of Technology, Muscat, which is the Local Networking Academy in Oman that offers Cisco programmes.The Competition was sponsored by Cisco Systems International, B.V., Haarlerbergpark, Haarlerbergweg 13-19, 1101 CH Amsterdam, The Netherlands (“Cisco” or “Sponsor”). As directed by Mr Prabu Arokiaraj, former section head of the IT department of IbriCT, the detailed plan of proposal was sent in order to conduct the NetRiders 2016 competition for the entire Al Dhahira region.

IbriCT was approved as the Center for conducting the said competition. About Cisco NetRiders: Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders competitions utilizes Cisco's Web technologies to create an interactive networking skills contest that enhances classroom learning, unites students from across the world, and promotes further technology education and training. Organized by Cisco, these competitions are a great opportunity for Networking Academy students to learn valuable Networking/IT skills through a series of online exams and simulation activities using Cisco Packet Tracer. The competitions was offered at 3 levels - CCNA, CCENT and IT Essentials, for students currently or recently enrolled in a Cisco Networking Academy course. The Round 1 of the competition was held on 04th May 2016 and Round 2 will be announced later. The Cisco Academy proctor and success lead Mr Junath Naseer Ahamed formed a team and gave some suggestions for the smooth conduct of the registration process and the competition as well. Ms. Samia Al Yaqoobi, coordinator of the IT department, assisted in attending the enquiries via calls from other colleges.

IbriCT administration provided the refreshments for the participants. The Team of members who executed this event were: Mr Norman (Ibri College of Applied Science) Ms Moza al Shebani (ETC Staff), Dr. Shanmugam , Mr Wilson , Ms Nasim al Balushi, Ms Fatma al Mandhari. Mr Safik Khan, HoD-IT, Mr. William, HoS-IT,and Dr Pugalarasu, HoS-Math, welcomed the students. The Dean, Dr. Abdulla Al-Maskari, and Asst. Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Al Siyabi, both graced the event with their presence . There were a total of 47 students who participated in this competition, among them, 9 students are from the College of Applied Science Ibri, and the remaining 38 students are from IbriCT. The competition was held in the following countries: 1. Asia Pacific 2. Europe, Russian Federation, CIS 3. Greater China and Mongolia 4. Latin America and the Caribbean 5. Sub-Saharan Africa 6. Turkey, Middle East, North Africa 7. USA and Canada
