Symposium Registration

The targeted audience engagement should be integrated into all session types. Please note, for all session types, presenters are expected to engage the audience rather than simply reading a scripted presentation. For more information about session types, please see the overview of session types below:

PROPOSAL/RESERACH

30 min., 1–2 Speakers

Oral summary of the researcher’s topic and work in relation to theory and/or practice with only occasional reference to notes or text. Proposal should include a synopsis of the topic, including central research question, results, supporting evidence, and implications. Presentation should be addressed to a general ELT audience, not scholars in a subfield. Researchers may submit a joint proposal focusing on two related research projects.

TEACHING TECHNIQUES

30 min., 1–2 Speakers

Similar in content to a practice-oriented presentation but shorter. The teaching tip session is an oral summary that discusses the presenter’s work in relation to practice.

POSTER

30 min.; 1–2 Presenters

A visually explanatory exhibit that allows for short, informal discussion between the presenter(s) and attendees as they circulate within the poster-session area. Poster sessions serve as an important and interactive forum for sharing professional ideas and for receiving feedback.

WORKSHOP

30 min.; 1– 2 Facilitators

A carefully structured, hands-on, professional development activity. The presenter(s) and participants tackle a problem or develop specific teaching or research techniques.

The conference brings together professionals from around the world working in diverse roles with English language learners of all ages and at all stages of language development. Therefore, an important factor in proposal selection is program balance. It will strive to balance the event program by considering the following:

Range of topics within the ELT profession

Relevance to conference general theme and subthemes

Number of presentations on the same subthemes

Does not receive the proposal by the deadline
Is not received electronically
Promotes commercial interests
Title – 10 words
Abstract -75 words
Keywords -4-5
Summary – 100 words
Presenter/Co-presenter Bio-note – 50-60
