On the Job Training (O.J.T.)
On the Job Training (O.J.T.) means a training that occurs in a work place/ company/ business organization. The student has to undergo O.J.T. for about 8 weeks (at least 300 hours) at exiting level.
- All students must complete O.J.T. as a requirement for graduation with level of Diploma-II/ Advanced Diploma / Bachelor.
- Students can do O.J.T with one or two subjects remaining with prior approval from his advisor and the Head of OJT department.
- No student can do O.J.T with more than two subjects remaining.
- The O.J.T Department will have the following responsibilities and authority:
- Coordination between the head of centers and departments regarding industrial links and their counterparts in industry and other concerned bodies.
- Maintaining a department database comprising department activities, industrial links, jobs and training opportunities.
- Organizing student visit to industrial establishments and joint events.
- Coordinating on – the- job training between departments and industrial establishments, and ensuring students' compliance to bylaws, rules and regulation.
- Following up the unified standard assessment system for the –on-the- job training program.
- Making arrangements for guest speakers, exhibitions and seminars in coordination with the concerned department and industrial establishments.
- Submitting a report on students' activities to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.
3 STEPS PROCEDURE FOR O.J.T:
STEP 1: (Registration for O.J.T)
- Coordination between the head of centers and departments regarding industrial links and their counterparts in industry and other concerned bodies.
- Maintaining a department database comprising department activities, industrial links, jobs and training opportunities.
- Organizing student visit to industrial establishments and joint events.
- Coordinating on – the- job training between departments and industrial establishments, and ensuring students' compliance to bylaws, rules and regulation.
- Following up the unified standard assessment system for the –on-the- job training program.
- Making arrangements for guest speakers, exhibitions and seminars in coordination with the concerned department and industrial establishments.
- Submitting a report on students' activities to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.
STEP 2: (After Start of your O.J.T in Company)
- Call your college assessor/OJT coordinator and submit the contact details (Telephone/ Email) of industry supervisor, organization location where you are doing your O.J.T. and request him/ her for a visit (inform about office timing and holidays to avoid unnecessary travel, take appointment with your industry supervisor well in advance).
- Regularly fill the attendance record and student log of daily activities (Page7 & Page 8-12).
- Collect and keep record of information related to the organization / activities for ppt preparation during the training.
STEP 3: (On Completion of O.J.T)
- Report back to your college assessor about completion of the training.
- Fix a date for ppt presentation with your college assessor.
- After completion of presentation submit a copy of ppt, certificate from training organization (if issued) and OJT log book to the department OJT coordinator.
- Collect a copy of assessor’s evaluation sheet and complete the graduation form available in the registration department.
