The Entrepreneurship Committee (DBS) and Career Guidance Office, in collaboration with the SME Development Fund, organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme in the VIP Room on 8 October 2018.

The programme started at 10.00am and had two sessions for two different sections of students. The sessions were conducted and presented by Mr Qais Al Balushi, Trainer, SME Development Fund. His presentation started with a discussion on the types of small and medium businesses in Oman followed by the success story of the Saud Bahwan group of companies.

After this, all students present were divided in different groups and they were told to think and write about a business idea that they have in mind. Later they had to identify different sources for obtaining the required resources to put their business idea in action and perform a SWOT analysis. The session was quite interactive, and students participated enthusiastically and exchanged lot of information.

The presentation ended with a question and answer session and the students shared their views about whole exercise. About 60 students took part and benefitted from the session. It was successfully conducted and on behalf of the Entrepreneurship Committee. I am thankful to the College Management, Head of Department of Business Studies (DBS), and the SME Development Fund.  Special thanks to Career Guidance Office coordinator, Mr Zaid Al Badi, and faculty members of the Department of Business Studies for their cooperation.
