HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARENESS SESSION

Health and Safety committee of PSC organized a “Health and Safety Awareness Session” held on November 9, 2023. The session was conducted by Ms. Thandeka Khathi and Ms. Haleema Tausef, PSC Lecturer. The main objective of the session was the Health and Safety Awareness among staff and students. The session focused mainly on raising basic awareness on the Health and Safety procedures in place in our campus.
Ms. Thandeka Khathi presented the emergency evacuation, fire procedure and the first aid procedures. Clear illustrations were given and directions to the nearest assembly points were shared, using pictures. The importance of completing the incident report form was emphasized as well instructions on how to access it and the procedure to submit it.
Ms. Haleema Tausef then followed with General Health and Safety tips for the participants. This part of the presentation dealt with practical day-to-day advice to maintain good health, prevent hazards and ensure safety. Participants were further urged to take responsibility of their own Health and Safety by applying tips such as decluttering their workspaces, keeping hydrated and reporting potential hazards such as open wires, faulty equipment etc. Participants voiced their appreciation for an informative session and gave positive feedback.
