 The Staff Development Committee of the Engineering Department, organised Workshop 2 on “Designing Assessment Based on Cognitive Skills” on 28 June 28 2018 from 12.30pm to 02.45pm.

Dr K. Elangovan, HoS, Mechanical Section, and Mr Abid Siddique, lecturer, Engineering Department, conducted the program.

The presentation started with Bloom’s Taxonomy implementation on the assessment procedure for the different levels of learning. The presenter also briefed about summative and formative assessment followed universally. Setting questions based on different cognitive skills for summative assessments by using suitable action verbs were also elaborated on.

In the questions and answers session, the speakers explained to the audience about assessments and question setting, course modification and delivery etc. as per cognitive skills and levels.

In continuation of this presentation, an activity was carried out among staff to familiarise the assessment methods to be adopted for different outcomes-based on its level for selected courses in advanced diploma programme. Staff were divide into eight groups based upon their specialisations and outcomes, for selected subjects in advanced diploma level, were given to them to design questions based on different cognitive levels of the outcomes.

This program was highly interactive and well received by the staff.
