Report on Health Awareness Programme during World AIDS Day

The Health and Safety committee organised a HIV awareness programme in cooperation with Dr Ali Al Shukaili, the supervisor of the AIDS programme in Al Dhahirah Governorate on 1 December 2019. The presentation included an awareness about HIV and the current facts of the virus around the world. The awareness programme was well-received by the staff and students with effective participations and which concluded with a voluntary examination for HIV.

The presentation also emphasised the following HIV world day goals:

1. Focus on the importance of expansion and increase of coverage of preventive and curative services for HIV infection locally and globally.

2. Monitor the spread of HIV/AIDS globally and monitor the availability of treatment and related prevention services.

3. Policy development, and provision of standard and technical guidance, to assist countries in strengthening their health sector efforts to fight HIV / AIDS.

4. Providing medicines, diagnostic supplies, and other means necessary to combat HIV, and ensuring adequate supplies thereof.

5. Invite all stakeholders at a global level to pay more attention to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and to show more commitment to fighting it.
