The High Voltage Engineering Class composed of eight (8) Bachelor Students under the instruction of Mrs. Lizette Ivy C. Pascual, together with Lab Technician, Mr. Mahmood Khamis Saif Khamis AlNasseri, went to NAMA Electricity Supply Company SAOC, formerly Majan Electric Company, in Souq, Ibri last 15 November 2023 for the DC Insulation Resistance Test for High Voltage Three-Phase Power Transformers Laboratory Exercise, and Industry Visit.

In addition to the conduct of the Laboratory Exercise, Engr. Ali Al-Yaqobi gave them a lecture on Three-Phase Power Transformers, Ring Main Units (RMU), and other equipment used in the Electrical Distribution System.

To increase the practical learning experiences of the students, visiting actual work sites in Oman’s Power System companies, will give them real world knowledge and appreciation for possible future careers in Electrical Engineering in Electrical Power System companies.

It is necessary and beneficial for students to see what some electrical equipment and devices actually look like as compared to merely looking at them in photos and videos. Some students even got to operate the switching process of the Ring Main Unit (RMU). NAMA Personnel accommodated the group with great hospitality. UTAS-Ibri Engineering Department is grateful for their continued support and for always allowing our staff and students the chance to conduct the Laboratory Exercises almost every semester
