Program on Exploring Research proposals

Dr. V Ilankumaran, HoS, Electrical and Electronics Section, Engineering Department, delved into research and research proposals for funding. He spoke about research, types of research, and topic selection. He discussed the importance of research problem statement, for a good quality research, problem statement is main the objective. If it is defined properly, a major part of the work will be identified easily and it is easy to process. He discussed constraints faced by teaching staff. He informed the audience on funding agencies and industries willing to accept research. He briefed about TRC research programs like Open Research Grant; FURAP; Renewable Energy Strategic Research Program; Graduate Research Support Program, Student Research Program, Social Observatory Research Program and Road Safety programs.

He listed the criteria for each research program and how to apply for funding. Many staff members asked about research possibility and journal requirements. This program was well received by the staff and highly was beneficial to the participants.
