Redesigning Engineering Education Education 4.0 for Industry 4.0
The Staff Development Committee of the Engineering Department organised a programme on “Redesigning Engineering Education 4.0 for Industry 4.0” on 21 January 2021 from 11.00 am to 12 noon. Dr K. Elangovan, HoS (Mechanical and Industrial Engineering), delivered the presentation for the benefit of the staff members. He started the lecture with an industrial evolution concept and explained the digital literacy and dexterity competencies required for the industry. His presentation mainly focused on Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) to integrate horizontal and vertical business processes in the industry. He also differentiated between various approaches of education starting from one to four to reduce the gap between the industry and education field. Finally, he concluded the presentation by highlighting the importance of changing the existing curricula and adapting the new tools of Education 4.0 in the existing educational system as the need of the day.
