In the pursuant of achieving the Strategic Plan of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) and the Oman Vision 2040, the UTAS-Ibri represented by the IT department conducted a collaborative program with “The Station”, a non-governmental organization based in Iraq to perform a scientific research training, entitled, “Advanced Training Program in Research Methodology: Step-by-Step Guideline”. The research program was delivered by Dr. Omar Hussein Al Guboori, an IT Lecturer from 1-11 November 2022 at 4PM-9PM due to participants’ availability. The program was conducted offline in Baghdad and the attendance was 16 participants from various occupations such as heads of departments, postgraduate students, and researchers.

The aim of the program is to support the researchers and qualify them to establish a reliable research infrastructure and create a solid foundation of knowledge for the principles and goals of advanced research methodology as the Research methodology provides students with the necessary knowledge to undertake better research and conceivably become successful career researchers. Moreover, teaching research methodology to students has become more critical than ever because of the changing nature of science and data.

The training program provided the participants with the necessary knowledge to undertake better research and conceivably become successful career researchers. The program targeted post-graduate students, lecturers, and researchers in (Research and Development) departments in private and government sectors. Moreover, based on the experience in the scientific research fields, Dr. Omar designed and proposed a twelve steps procedure guideline that the researcher should follow sequentially to do high-impact factor research. The proposed guideline starts by defining the research area and finishes by preparing a manuscript (thesis or journal article) for publication. And towards the end of the program, Dr. Omar asked the participants to do presentations individually. This aimed at evaluating their knowledge and understanding the training outcomes.

Below are the deliverables of the said 11-day extensive training program:
