On 12 April 2018, on behalf of the Research and Consultancy Committee, Department of Engineering, a visit was organized to discuss and initiate research and consultancy activities with the Public Authority of Electricity and Water (PAEW), in areas such as water leakage problems, pump maintenance, energy conservation in pump houses and water treatment. There were discussions on online monitoring of water leakages in the piping networks used to distribute portable water to the public in Ibri region.

There was also a discussion made on submitting a Project proposal for open grant through Water Management module, TRC, in association with PAEW. The staff of Al-Mansoor LLC, the contractors of PAEW, expressed their concerns and their experiences in solving the water leakage issues through water leakage monitoring systems. A team of faculty members from the Department of Engineering earlier visited the PAEW plant (5 April) from where the water is drawn, processed and pumped to the reservoirs for distribution. The visit was fruitful and expected to pave ways to series of projects in the areas like flow monitoring, water management, energy management and water treatment in future. The meeting was officiated in the presence of the Production Manager, PAEW and the Process Manager, Plant In charge, Plant Supervisors of A-Mansoor LLC.
