Webinar on Industry 5.0 – A Human-Centric Solution 

On June 2nd 2022, the Research and Consultancy Committee, in collaboration with Staff Development Committee of the IT department, organized a webinar on Industry 5.0. The webinar was delivered by our invited guest speaker from Saveetha College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SIMATS Deemed University), Dr. D Akila. 

The webinar was officiated by our staff member, Dr Suresh Rasappan. Afterwards, Dr. Akila started her session by introducing herself and highlighting the concepts covered in the session. The session covered an overview of the history of the industrial revolution and the transformation trend from IR 4.0 to IR 5.0. Moreover, it covered an introduction of the nine technologies that derive the IR 5.0, including:

• Big Data and Analytics
• Augmented Reality
• Autonomous Robots/Drones
• Simulation
• Horizontal and vertical system integration
• The Industrial Internet of Things
• Cyber Security
• The Cloud
• Additive Manufacturing 

Additionally, the speaker shed light on IR 5.0 in various aspects, including manufacturing and personalized solutions. Afterwards, she demonstrated some existing solutions, such as Digital Twins, Driverless Transport and AR Glasses for surgeons based on augmented reality. In the end, the speaker concluded the session and thanked the organizers and Dr. Suresh for the invitation and opportunity.

About eighteen staff members attended the session and submitted their feedback, and the average score was 4.8 out of 5.
