Information Department Semester End Gathering Session 2020-21 Semester 1

The Department Council of IT Department organised a function for staff members of the department on 7 January 2021 from 12:30 pm onward. The event was organised to mark the end of the semester.  Most of the department members attended the friendly event. 

In her welcome address, Dr Amal Al Abri, head of the Information Technology Department, congratulated all the staff members for their efforts in carrying out all academic and non-academic activities successfully in the changing environment due to the pandemic. She stressed the efforts made by the teachers in conducting online teaching sessions, carrying out evaluations, and finally publishing the results. She also noted that the results processed were similar to the results of previous semesters before the pandemic, which show the successful and smooth transition of the whole process in the changed scenario. 

 The department council members Dr Pugalarasu, Ms Fatma Al Shamli, Mr William, and Ms Nasim also congratulated and thanked all the faculty members for their continuous support and efforts.  

The department lecturers Ms Nasim Al Balushi, Ms Warda Al Majrafi, Ms Fatma Al Mandhari, Mr Brian Gee Chacko, Mr Geogen George, Mr Isabelo D. Paat Jr., Dr Shaik Mastan Vali, Dr Monther Ali Muslem Tarawneh, Dr Qais Saif Qassim Al Janabi, Mr Someshvar Vashisht, Mr Jithin Mathew, Mr Dilwar Islam Mazumder, and Mr Mangesh Wanjari were mentioned for their contributions in conducting webinars in their areas of specialisation for external societies as well as for UTAS-Ibri participants from all the departments. Each one of them received a certificate and a memento.

The HoD also felicitated Mr William Ancheta, former head of section for Information Technology for his services extended to the department, holding this position for many years, with a special memento. Later, all members in the department were presented with a memento as a token of appreciation. At the same time the HoD, with all members congratulated, and welcomed Ms Fatma Al Shamli for being appointed as a new head of section for Information Technology. Everyone wished her success in the new role.  

In the end, everyone enjoyed a specially arranged lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. Everyone praised the arrangements and thanked Ms Samya, the department coordinator, for her efforts in arranging everything. All in all, it was a rejuvenating and enjoyable event.
