The ETC- Health and Safety Committee, in association with the centre’s Staff Development Committee, conducted an awareness program entitled “Fire Safety and First Aid” for all ETC staff on Thursday, November 23, 2017, from 12.00 pm to 1.00 pm in Hardware Lab. The aim of the program was to make aware and train all the staff to handle fire incidents in the work place.
Mr. Ferdinand delos Reyes, chairman of ETC Health and Safety Committee, gave an interesting presentation about fire safety and first aid. In the session, he explained the different causes of fire, the ways to prevent it, and the steps to be carried out in case of a fire disaster at the work place. He then introduced the different types of fire extinguishers and how to operate them. He also presented the layout of the campus where fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment are located.
Finally, he explained the way to handle and provide the first aid in case of fire injury based on the degree of injury.
It was an interactive session where audience shared their views and asked their doubts and questions, which were all clarified by the resource person. A total of 23 ETC staff benefitted from the session.
