Orientation program on Fire Extinguishers Demonstration and Fire Safety

Mr. S. Manikandan and Dr. Alfred Franklin addressed the first year engineering students on the classification and application of firefighting equipment in case of an emergency. First aid procedures to be followed were also presented. This event was held in the Mechanical Workshop (B005), Electrical Workshop (B024) Engineering department from 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm. Technicians demonstrated how to use fire extinguishers in case of fire. A few students also practiced the use of firefighting equipment on a demonstrated fire. The presentation was well received by students of the department. Mr. Sathyendran Rathinavel and Mr. Shankar, Health and Safety Member of the Engineering Department demonstrated the different types of fire extinguishers.
