The Ibri College of Technology Engineering Department conducted its regular On-the-Job Training (OJT) Orientation Program on 24 January 2018, 11:00, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Engineering Building. The program is for Engineering Students who are undergoing OJT in various companies in Oman for Semester 2, AY 2017-2018.

The OJT is an important requirement for Engineering Students to earn their Diploma wherein they are dispatched to companies related to their specializations (Electrical Power, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering) in order for them to gain valuable actual, hands-on, practical experience that will enhance their confidence, knowledge, and skills.

The Engineering Department, through the Engineering Registration Office, held the Orientation Program to guide Diploma Year 1 Engineering students on how to choose their preferred engineering specialization. The students were briefed on the scope of each Engineering specialization being offered in Ibri College of Technology and in the other Colleges of Technology.

Dr Geetha and Mr Ragupathi took turns on being the assigned speaker for each of the seven (7) sections of PHYS 1211 (College Physics 2) from 27 November to 14 December 2017, depending on the respective section’s laboratory class schedules at the Physics Laboratory (Room No. 1078).

On the job training is an important activity in the academic life of every student pursuing, his/her post foundation studies at IbriCT.

Its orientation programme was conducted for the Business Studies, Information Technology and Engineering students on 21 November 2017, from 09.00am to 11.00am in the lecture theatre in the Engineering building.

In IT

The IT Department of Ibri College of Technology conducted a Course, Project Orientation Programme, on 21 November 2017 at 10am in the VIP Hall. The main purpose of this program is to motivate and create awareness about course project work among the students across different levels who will be doing their course project in the forthcoming semester.

Mr S. Ahamed Nishath, Project Committee Coordinator, IT Department, presented and clearly explained the role of students for doing course projects, Course Project work flow, as well as the necessary documents to prepare and submit for the course project. He also explained about all the reviews that will be conducted to access the course project. He also mentioned the importance of weekly meetings with supervisors and maintaining log sheets. He motivated the students to look for projects across different fields based on their area of interest to get involved and complete the project. He briefly talked about TRC and FURUP projects and motivated the students to submit good proposals.

The Engineering department Health and Safety Committee organized an orientation program on Fire Extinguisher Demonstration and Fire Safety on 19 October, 2017.

In ELC

The English Language Centre conducted a two-day orientation program on academic advising and counselling at the VIP Room of Ibri College of Technology on October 9 and October 10, 2017.

The first session comprised of 28 students from levels 3 and 4 while the following session was attended by 48 students from levels 1 and 2. The said attendees were chosen according to their academic performance and attendance last semester.

The Engineering Department of Ibri College of Technology conducted their On-the-Job Training (OJT) Orientation Program for their students on September 20, 2017, at 12:00 noon, in the Multi-Purpose Hall, in the Engineering Building.

Engineering Students who have complied with all of their academic requirements under the various specializations: Electrical Power, Electronics & Telecommunication, and Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and those who have only one or two courses left in Diploma level, and who have no immediate plans to proceed to Advance Diploma are eligible to undergo OJT.

As mandated at the start of every semester, the Electrical Power (EE) and Electronics & Telecommunications (ECE) Engineering Section held their Project Orientation Program on May 3, 2017 (Wednesday), 11:00 am -12:00 nn, at the Thermodynamics Laboratory (B011) in the Engineering Building.

In order to prepare IbriCT students for the job market and as future professionals, the students are sent to undergo On-the-Job (OJT) Training in the various companies all over Oman before graduation procedures will be initiated.

IbriCT Engineering Department conducted their On-the-Job Training (OJT) Orientation Program for Engineering Students on May 7, 2017, 10:00 am, at the Multi-Purpose Hall in the Engineering Building.

In recent years, the number of College graduates in Oman has been steadily increasing; resulting in a clamor for getting favorable employment in the various companies and agencies within the Sultanate. The competition for landing a job which are preferred by the graduates has become fiercer. However, some graduates, upon leaving the College, are quite unsure as to the steps they have to take and where to go in order to start searching for that “dream” job.
