How to establish Center of Excellence in Research at College / University

The Research Committee of the Information Technology Department fosters Research Culture among faculty members of the Ibri College of Technology. The Research Committee, along with Staff Development Committee of Information Technology Department, conducted a Guest Lecture on “Establishing a Center of Excellence in Research at College/University" in the VIP room on 11 October, 2017 between 12:00 – 12:45 PM. Dr. R Seenivasan, Professor and Assistant Director of International Relations Office at VIT University, India, was the resource person.
In his presentation, Dr. R. Seenivasan focused on research objectives, overheads of inculcating a research culture in faculty members, establishing Research Center and Office, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), publishing research papers and reaching out for funding. At the end, he hosted an open platform for interaction with the audience. It happened to be an interactive and informative session.
Dr. Said Masoud Ali Kashoob, Dean - Ibri College of Technology and Mr. Younus Al Zabi, Assistant Dean, Academic Affairs - Ibri College of Technology, graced the occasion along with IT department Council. Dr. R. Seenivasan was felicitated with a memento by the Dean of the College. 28 faculty members were present and benefited by the presentation.
Finally, feedback about the attainment of objectives of the lecture and relevance was collected from attendees and was found that most of them were satisfied with the talk. The majority of them wished they will attend many such talks in future. The average feedback score was 4.03 on a scale of 5.
