The workshop held in four sessions on 18th, 25th January 3rd and 10th February, at Room No: B 112, Digital electronics Lab. The resource person for the program was Dr. Carlos Santos.

The objective of the program was mainly to apply the knowledge of mechanical engineering, electronics engineering & electrical engineering and their skills in solving problems and challenges in the Real world.

In the First session the speaker discussed about the following topics.

As per the instruction of HoD Engineering Department, Mr.Nasser Al-Shammakhi, Quality Assurance committee of Engineering Department has conducted program on “Operation Plan Achievement Report (OPAR)”, with all staff members, HoD and HoSs, on 28th June 2016, at Free access Lab. The program was started at 10:30 AM.

Mr. Srinivas Naik, Coordinator of Q.A committee presented the draft copy of OPAR in order to show the achievement of the set targets. He also emphasized the committee coordinators and members to go through the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and targets to prepare the activity plan for the academic year 2016-2017.

He also presented the revised departmental committee list for the academic year 2016-2017.

The HoD appreciated all the staff members, for their efforts towards achieving goals of the college and advised to work as a team.

The program was ended at 11:30 AM.

As part of Technical Cultural Week, the IT Department, through iTech Club committee, conducted its 2nd iTech Marathon Competition on March 06, 2016 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Multi-Purpose Hall, VIP Room, Free Access Laboratory, Hardware Laboratory, and Network Laboratory.

The Business Studies Department in collaboration with Research and Consultancy Committee organized an open house discussion to promote research and consultancy activities among the staff members last February 9, 2017 from 11 am to 12 nn at the VIP room, Ibri College of Technology.

On March 2nd, 2017 (Thursday), the Staff Development Committee (SDC) on behalf of IT Department, IbriCT had conducted an initiative with the sole purpose of research based collaboration with Arab Open University (AOU). The seminar commenced at 10:30 pm in the lecture theatre with the event host (SDC Coordinator) who introduced the phases. This was followed by an introduction and welcome address by Dr.G.Shanmugarathinam (member SDC) to the AOU team - Dr.Sherimon P.C, Dr. Walid Aboraya, Dr. Kabaly P. Subramanian.

The Industrial link committee of Information Technology Department arranged an industrial visit on Thursday, March 30, 2017 to Omantel, Ibri through the OJT coordinator Mr. Junath Nasser Ahmed. The objective of this visit was to provide and show real time operations and maintenance of Omantel telecommunication system to the students of ‘Principles of Data Telecommunications’ course.

The Staff Development Committee of the IT department planned a workshop series on “Introduction to LaTeX”, and Part-1 of the workshop was organized on 18 April, 2017 at 10:00 am in Lab-1. The workshop spanned for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The objective of the programme was to understand the fundamentals of LaTeX and implement the acquired techniques in preparing research articles, books, question papers and presentations which in turn would improve the skills of the faculties.

Mr. Brian presented the welcome note and initiated the workshop. Dr. Duhai AlShukaili, Lecturer-IT (IbriCT), conducted the workshop. He gratefully acknowledged the work of the authors cited while assuming complete responsibility for any mistake introduced in the adaptation. He divided his presentation into different steps such as;

Typeset text in LaTex. Use of lots of different commands. Handle errors when they arise. Typeset some beautiful mathematics. Use several different environments. Load packages.

Dr.Duhai explained the use of latex and the advantages it has over other document editors. He gave a practical experience about how LaTeX works with lots of examples. He also briefed most of the commands used in LaTeX with an already prepared handout for the users.

Dr. Duhai also focused on typesetting mathematics and the beauty of typing equations and symbols without any difficulty in alignment. He also helped the participants in handling errors while compiling the documents. Dr. Duhai made use of an online editor Overleaf to demonstrate the use of LaTeX effectively.

Dr. Duhai gave a summary of this first session of the workshop and an overview of the forthcoming sessions of this workshop series. The session was very useful and interactive. Twenty-four (24) faculty members of various departments participated in the workshop and benefitted from it.

The Staff Research and Consultancy Committee of the Business Studies Department organized a presentation on “Enhancing Student-Centered Learning Environment” last March 20, 2017.

Ibri College of Technology’s Entrepreneurship Committee with OJT College Committee organized an entrepreneurship development program on renewable energy technologies. They collaborated with NAMA Group of Holdings at the VIP room last March 13, 2017 from 10.00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event aims to instill entrepreneurial skills through creativity and innovation with technical assistance from NAMA Group of Holdings. Eventually the students will act as "NAMA Ambassadors" in IBRICT.

Mr. AL Miqdad Rashid Al Nomani, one of the development program’s ambassadors, spearheaded the said event. He demonstrated how to innovate renewable energy sources from solar, waste management and wind mills for the rationalization and sustainable development of electricity consumption in Oman. Nearly 45 students from Business, IT and Engineering departments participated in the program. They took their part by creating various models of all renewable energy methods.

Mr. Manikandan Sathyamoorthy, in behalf of the entrepreneurship committee of BSD, thanked the IBRICT management, OJT College Committee, and NAMA Holdings for organizing such event.

The Information Technology Department conducted a specialization orientation program on March 12, 2017. This orientation is especially organized for the students moving to advanced diploma level for the second semester of the present academic year. The objective of this program is to give an idea on various IT specializations available in Colleges of Technology.
