The Entrepreneurship Committee, Department of Business Studies, in coordination with the college’s On the Job Training Committee, organized the inauguration program of its e-Club in the Multi-Purpose Hall, on 29 October 2017. The e-Club, formed under the auspices of Ibri College of Technology, is supported and sponsored by the SME Development Fund, Oman.

The session started at 10am with a presentation by Mr. Qais Khalifah Al-Bulushi (Trainer and entrepreneurship coach, SME Development fund, Oman). He briefed the gathering of the fundamental concepts of entrepreneurship, and the importance of e-Club and the Campus Companies in Ibri College of Technology.

The Research and Consultancy Committee, in association with the Staff Development Committee of the Engineering Department, organized a Lecture, “Estimation of Calcium Deficiency by Medical Image Processing with Back Propagation Algorithm”, on October 26, 2017 from 9.00am to 10.00am.

Dr.G.Kumaravel, Lecturer, Engineering department, delivered the lecture. The presentation started with the calcium levels required for different age groups and the conventional methods available to detect the level of calcium in humans. The conventional methods use blood and urine samples, which are painful procedures for children and the accuracy of the results vary with drugs injected like Antacids, thyroxin and vitamin D pills.

The QA Committee of IT department organized a workshop on “Creating Surveys using Google Forms” on 5th October 2017 at 1:40 pm in Lab-1. The objective of the programme was to create an awareness about Google Forms and its usage.

Dr. Antony Kishore, Math Lecturer, conducted the workshop. He started with an introduction about Google Forms and the three different steps in conducting an online survey. He further highlighted that, google forms are associated with a google account for the creator of the survey and the respondents need not sign in to take up a survey.

The Staff Development Committee, in association with the Examination Cell Committee of the Engineering Department, organized an orientation program on examination procedures and activities, for newly appointed staff members on October 19, 2017 from 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

Mr. Antony Judice, Exam Cell Coordinator – Engineering department, conducted the program.

The presentation started with a brief explanation about the responsibilities of the Central Examination Committee. The guidelines to be followed during examinations by invigilators in the examination hall were discussed.

Other than invigilation procedures, procedures to be followed during emergency and students’ misbehavior during the examination were also elaborately explained.

All the participants benefited from this program.

The English Language Centre conducted a workshop on the use of Turnitin in Moodle last October 19, 2017, at Ibri College of Technology.

Mr. Abdullah Al Shukeily, Head of Educational Technologies Center, spearheaded the said workshop by explaining the process of creating assignments through the use of the college e-learning system or Moodle. This system provides lecturers, administrators and learners with integrated system to create a personalized and active learning environment.

This Workshop was organized by Entrepreneurship Committee – Department of Business Studies - in coordination with College OJT Committee in Multi-Purpose Hall, on 17th October 2017.

The session started at 12.00 p.m. with Dr. Sanjay Saha (Hos- HR) delivering the Welcome address and was followed by the words of wisdom from the chief guest Mr. Bader Rashid Salem Al-Alawi, Rabea Damashq Trading. He enlightened the students on the benefits of having ‘Small Business’ as one’s occupation. He also shared his experiences on challenges in small business and enlightened students on the various practical aspects of how to become an entrepreneur.

He emphasized the significance of Brand Creation and the purpose behind it. He narrated his own business life story, stressing upon the need and importance of Small Business in Oman.

Student Induction Program was conducted on 04/10/2017. The purpose of this program was to welcome New Intakes of Diploma Year – 1 and Semester – 1 students of Information Technology Department.

This program was arranged by Ms. Fatma AL-Shamali, Student Services Committee Coordinatoralong with Ms. Fatma AL-Manthari, Committee Member. Two (2) active Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering students and iTech Club members were invited as speakers, namely, Khazeena Said AL-Alawi and Hasna AL-Ghasani. They gave information related to the different levels of courses, subjects, grades and credits. Information related to the different specializations in Advanced Diploma level, job opportunities and on the job training were also given emphasized. As speakers, they encouraged students to be part of student activity club as it helps enhance their skills as students and in their future.

Ms. Fatma AL-Shamli concluded the session by giving some important guidelines and shared some pieces of advice that will help students improve their academic performance.

There were 30 students who attended the program which started at 10.00 am in lab2 and ended at 11.30am. A feedback was conducted after the said program.
